Decorex 2021 Rebirth of Livia’s Garden

The garden fresco of Roman empress Livia’s dining room at the Palazzo Massimo alle Terme in Rome, has been an obsession of ours for decades. It is among the jewels of Roman frescoes : a particularly touching subject and poetic treatment of nature, also providing us a glimpse into the private style of gardens in Latin culture.

A section of the orginal fresco, painted between 30 and 20 BC, for the Villa of Livia Drusilla, wife of the Roman Emperor Augustus.

We recreated it entirely based on a detailed pictorial study and our understanding of Roman painting. The recomposed repainted result is Dimonah’s personal view of Livia’s Garden. Certainly much more complete than the fragmented original.

We are happy to present it in avant-première, in its evening color option, to the visitors of Decorex 2021 in London.

We invite you also to discover hereunder our Exotic Chinoiserie, inspired by another Royal House, the Royal Pavilion of Brighton, built as a seaside pleasure palace for King George IV.
