Some of these designs originate in the Hôtel de Bourrienne, the house of Napoleon's Personal Secretary. Bourrienne was affected to Bonaparte early in his career. So the cartoons are very good examples of early French Neo-Classicism. Our interpretation is a variation from the original coloring : An overall monochrome effect with touches of pink and ochre . The medallions are painted in white on charcoal grey ; they represent mythological scenes. Wainscoting and upper frieze are also available making this series a full decor for for a room if desired or 9 panels and repeats, that can be used as decorative panels and accents
